A light hug is a hug that's given to someone (typically a stranger or someone you feel uncomfortable with). A light hug can sometimes be given in an awkward situation as well. Light hugs can also be given to belittle someone, or show a higher class.
"I just met my boyfriends parents and they gave me a light hug! I don't think they're comfortable around me just yet!"
