Abbreviation for student visa. A SV is a international student living in Canada commonly from India. The word was created around 2015 after thousands of international students were welcomed to Canada. It was a word to distinguish them from Indian students that were born in Canada. The word is not negative or a hate word. Strictly used to distinguish between Indian born and Canadian born student.

The SV’s working at Walmart were very helpful.
