Wake-keeping involves family and friends keeping watch over the body of the dead person, usually in the home of the deceased.

While this is grammatically correct ("wake" being the correct way to refer to this), it is mostly used as a slang world wide.

My mother's wake-keeping service is set on the 4th of this month.
