Another name for the adult-contemporary musical movement in the late 1970's and the early 1980's. It was defined mostly by its smooth sound. Popular Yacht Rockers include: Kenny Loggins, the Doobie Brothers, and Steely Dan.
"Steely Dan plays with the smooth sounds of yacht rock."

Yacht rock is cheesy pop rock music from the 80s and 90s. Artists like Michael McDonald, Kenny G, Stevie Nicks, Toto and a host of other similar bands comprise artists who performed this music. Think of dudes in their 50s cruising the harbor and snorting cocaine on their yachts blasting Kenny G and you will be able to picture those who enjoy yacht rock
I saw Billy's dad out in Newport Beach the other day cranking out some yacht rock. It made me want to vomit a shade of teal blue puke

Music inspired by the MOR soundtrack albums of the mid-1980s, as typified by artists such as Kenny Loggins, Jan Hammer, Billy Ocean, and Glenn Frey. Similar to Yacht Rock, but open to a wider range of musical influences. Post-yacht rock often incorporates elements of hard rock, smooth jazz, synth pop, calypso, soft rock, reggae, and arena rock. Post-yacht rock is typified by musicians who unironically embrace the sound of Kenny Loggins' "Highway to the Danger Zone." It is especially popular among college students who grew up listening to cover songs performed on reality competition TV shows.

If you thought The Bridge on Sirius XM was trash, this is their latest attempt at siphoning millions from the Satellite Radio system into the ultra-rich baby boomer's pockets. Their tagline is something to the extent of "If you're rich enough, you don't need a job." Probably while they snort cocaine and drink expensive booze on their yachts. I hope they get so intoxicated they can't steer, then ram their yacht into an iceberg and sink like the fucking titanic, then maybe drown.
"You're listening to YACHT ROCK RADIO, why call it working from home if you're so rich you don't need a job?"
