Whisky Tango Foxtrot

A more discrete way of saying or writing "WTF" or saying "What The Fuck?". Or a way of asking "What the Fuck?" in less offensive words.

What The Fuck? = WTF

WTF = Whisky Tango Foxtrot
When there are people around you and you wan to be descreet.

You - Hey, Whisky Tango Foxtrot?
friend - I don't know what she's pissed off about.

Whisky Tango Foxtrot

"What the fuck?"

Based on the police (and military) call sign alphabet where "Whisky" is "W", "Tango" is "T", and "Foxtrot" is "F". For use in situations where swearing would be unwise, such as at work or around minors.

To be used only as an interjection.
It got up to 80 degrees in October! Whisky Tango Foxtrot?!

Code words for WTF, an internet abbreviation that actually stands for "What The F*ck" (WTF..does that mean? ..is he doing? .. etc) If you don't want to refer to the offensive word in mixed company, you state the "code" instead.
In response to an argument that doesn't makes sense:

Wiskey Tango Foxtrot - can you understand what this dude is saying?

A Booger In The Nose Of Progress

Anything that impedes or otherwise interferes with a process going forward.
"Militarily, that inquest was a booger in the nose of progress."

or

"As far as human rights are concerned, this political infighting is a booger in the nose of progress."

Fogey/fogy /fougi/ sl. (early 18C+, orig. Scot) old-fashioned, stuck-in-the mud.
Person with old fashioned ideas which he is unwilling to change: Come to the disco and stop being such an old fogey!
You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)
