A prison slang term used by older jail inmates or prison convicts for jail or prison "inmate store or commissary" bought items such as: small cakes or pies, candy bars or sweet tooth items purchased by inmates.
zoo zoo's and wham wham's are individually packaged fruit filled pies, twinkies, cup cakes,pound cake, small pecan pies,and all candy bars, hard taffy, licorice and small packages of hard candy, all purchased from inmate store.

Terms used for getting junk food, mostly by street people and people in jail. Was often used when someone would spend a $1.00 food stamp and get the change back in coins. The items bought based on how cheap they are but they still bring happiness. In jail they are used for negotiation and trade.

I heard of them a very long time ago..like 30 years. The Grateful Dead followers called the various trail mixes and snacks zuzus and wham whams.
