People that have gone through hell and back.

This war veteran has been through a lot. Now he deserves the rest and respect after risking his life for his country.

War Veteran 

Sexual in nature, this term can be used to refer to a woman with an entire limb missing. Most commonly used to describe a woman with both legs missing, a war veteran could also just be missing a single limb, or a combination of arm(s) and/or leg(s).

Patric saw the war veteran in her wheel chair on the bus and was too scared to get her number.
