look up anything, like your first name:
1. imgur
imgur.com (pronounced imager) is a popular photo sharing website closely tied to reddit. It is very convenient to upload and share, in contrast to other services like tinypic and imageshack (which are still easy, just not as convenient). Employs a very similar system to reddit with upvotes and downvotes, and jokingly it has been said that it's changing into "animal planet" with various photos of cute animals like cats. Most reddit picture submissions are uploaded using either imgur or quickmeme. The difference in the two is that one is a general purpose image sharing website, and the other is to quickly overlay text on meme photos. Imgur allows comments as well, but the most upvoted are "as a x" and the singing of lyrics to a corresponding picture.
Robin: Golly gee Batman, I sure do love imgur!
Batman: (mumbles incoherently)
Robin: You are darn right! Imgur is super easy to use for images and it's part of reddit! Everyone should use it!
Spiderman: FUCK YOU I DO WHAT I WANT!
2. Imgur
Reddit's gay little brother. Imgur is a site full of sheltered high moral fags. They worship puppies, cats, and self righteousness among users. They also pride themselves in being "the wittiest people on the internet", which is retarded since things like "+1 for ______" always manage to take the top comment. If you don't know "top comment" is the comment which receives the most upvotes, these little queers would fight to the death for this honour.

A little piece of advice if you're going to imgur, don't. If you comment, you better be prepared to be downvoted to hell if your views aren't exactly the same as theirs. Imgur is also full of unoriginal jokes, and overused memes that should've died a long time.
Imgur fag 1: "+1 for anything Arrested Development!" (Top comment)

Imgur fag 2: "+1 for +1"

Imgur fag 3: "Gosh, we're so witty. Upvotes for all!" (This type of shit would take second top, or even top sometimes.)
3. Digg
4-Chan lite.
I went to Digg and totally posted a joke I found on 4-Chan. It was so funny, I think I got like two upvotes! Hurrr...
4. reddit
A user based article submission site populated mainly by former/current users of Digg, 4chan and other user-based social media groups. The content is almost identical but there is a general hipster mentality that Reddit is the coolest of the three and, therefore, the tone of much of the site is very snarky and ego-driven.

Submissions and comments can be voted up or down the page in order of relevance, but this function is used almost solely for the purpose of promoting the opinions that represent the majority view, or simply the most smartass remark.
Reddit Science Submission: Watch this laser gun cook bacon! {vid}

Replies:

MMM BACON!!! (1532 upvotes)

I see your bacon, and raise you a narwhal {pic} (1247 upvotes)

I like bacon too, but this isn't really science. (3468 downvotes)

eww bacon (infinite downvotes)
5. Threadrenaline
When you submit a post to websites such as reddit or digg and the post instantly gets massive replies, views and/or upvotes.
My god, I just submitted a pic to reddit of minime having sex with a monkey and it already has 1,456 upvote in 20 minutes. This is this biggest burts of threadrenaline I have got in a long time!
6. stackoverflow
A programming Q&A site, where users get upvotes for good questions, answers and comments, and also get downvotes for bad answers, questions and comments. The votes determine your rep (the highest I've seen there is 300k Skeet Skeet)

The users don't play around better not fuck with them. And don't post silly questions, answers, and comments except your Jon Skeet (He has a lifetime supply of upvotes, if you downvote him your wasting your time) . Can be a horror to new users though. Plus its perfectly designed.
Bob : Dude, I totally asked an innocent question on stackoverflow and got 30 downvotes in the first 10 seconds.

Me : What did you ask?

Bob : How to print a line to console in java.

Me : Ahahahaha I got 100 downvotes when I introduced myself with a question.
7. Upvote
The action of giving an article, post or video on an internet forum or website a positive rating, such as a "thumbs up".
This article is really insightful. I think I will upvote it.
