A thingamajig is:

1. noun relating to a nonspecific object.

2. noun referring to a specifc object of which the user cannot immedietely remember the name of.

Andrew: What, exactly?

Julian: Just, y'know, thingamajigs.

A word that can take the place of any one noun.
While working on his hot ride, John Doe reaches for his screw driver but can't reach it. He says to Tony "Eh Tony, hand me the uh.... thingamajigger" Tony-"oh, you mean the screwdriver?" "Yeah, that's it"

So I ran over a thingamajigger on the way home from work. It's hair got caught all up in my tires. Sick.

What baby-boomers call electronics. Especially if they haven't upgraded their cell phone since 2001.
Mrs. Robinson: "hmmm.., Luke honey can you come here? I don't understand why my thingamajiggy turned into a mirror.."
Luke: "Mom...you opened your camera in selfie mode..."

Mrs. Robinson: "Well, I don't know! You kids and these thingamajiggies...I just don't understand them!"

A supremely more offensive version of thingamajigger, a midwesterner term for almost any noun. Perfect for insertion into conversation with your african-american friends!
Bob: So, I was fixing the sink, when this thingamanigger fell out of the pipe, and now I can't figure out where it goes!
Joe: That sucks! Let's go burn a cross in the neighbor's yard.

thingamajiggy 

Synonym for thingy (a thing, the name of which you don't know or can't recall), sometimes used by cool elementary school teachers .
"Can you hand me that thingamajiggy?" (said while pointing)
"You mean the side cutters?"
"Yeah, I need them to cut this wire."
