What some people call "music" (although that is a matter of opinion), rap being produced these days is usually boring and meaningless, pretentious shit with someone complaining about how hard their life was before they got a multi million dollar record deal.
Many people prefer other music over rap, as other genres of music tend to use more layers in their music so it is deeper musically than just vocals and a rhythm.
Some rappers, such as Eminem, you could respect, even if you didn't like their music, because their music meant something. But even he has gone completely downhill, and I can't think of any decent rappers worth mentioning at the moment.

the shittiest excuse for talent ever created. all it really is is a shitty ass beat to a shitty ass poem. many people think it takes talent because you have to write lyrics with a beat that already exists. well the same goes for rock. you have to write lyrics. ONLY IN ROCK YOU MAKE YOUR OWN LYRICS, BEAT AND TUNES!!!!! and then you have to play them flawlessly.
IN OTHER WORDS. RAP TAKES NO TALENT. ROCK DOES.
rap sucks massive dick, and MUST END!!!! its shutting out the real artists: led zeppelin, ac/dc, jimi hendrix, etc.

Urban style of music often critisized as not being a form of music. Also usually stereotyped and limited to 50 Cent, Eminem, T.I., Ja Rule and other bullshit, mainstream artists. Think about it, all music talks about the same things, life, love and most of all failure. People's lifestyles just happen to be different. Also music is all based on preference so if you dont like it, don't listen to it! On a final note, just like with anything, you should research and get to know something before you go dissing on it or you're really just an ignorant prick.

Music that prolly wouldn't be so bad if MTV hadn't gotten a hold of it. The most mainstream (meaning overplayed, and only like by 12 year old fags who think they're hot shit because they can mimic the way 50 Cent and Eminem dress) is cheap beats (made in programs like Fruity Loops Studio) that loop annoyingly, accompanied by a person talking fast about stuff (stupid shit like being a 'gangsta', drugs, sex, women, or their life story. This is the worst form of rap (and I don't mean because of the swears). Underground rap is more closely related to the way original rap/hip hop was recorded, and includes turntablism, sampling, producing, visual art, breakdancing, beatboxing, and more.
It has been said that rap is only hated by rich white people, and blacks only like rap. Not true. I have a black friend who likes rock, I like rock (I am white and not rich).
Rap is teh suck and rock is teh win

the greatest sound to ever grace the insides of my ears. still, i cant believe some of the ridiculous shit in here. i dont know why people cant respect others opinions. rap is not about being gangsta, rollin on dubs, and big booty bitches. theres more to it than that, sometimes you just have to search harder for it. you have to look through the fakes like 50, tony yayo, and all that shit to find the good stuff. listen to masta ace, geto boys, or scarface and try telling me rap isnt music.

i especially love the black music, whites cant listen to it or their wiggers comments. im white, and i love rap. ive never been fond of rock, i just dont like the way it sounds. so what? why should i listen to something i dont like...just because its the "white" thing to do? i respect what rock musicians do, it takes talent and years of practice. so i cant understand why rockers cant see it the other way around. but if listening to rap makes me a wigger, then so be it.

rock: dude do u like rock?
rap: nah im more of a rap guy
rock: ew ur white u must be a wigger

flow rhyming poetry

something i make
i made this in few secs.

bow wow thinks he got tattoos, but he never heard of ink
faker than ja rule and the murder inc
50 got fame, but he's overrated
its a shame for ja rule, he's an exposure native*

native=related to
he faces much exposure, almost that he is related to it, its figurative language

you see, rap requires much though and education in language(learning new words, using figurative language, slanting rhymes, certain amounts af syllables for verses, etc......)
rap does NOT= just talking with no talent

A pathetic excuse for music, rap isn't real music to begin with, the simple fact is that rap is poetry set to a beat. Original rap wasn't so bad. It dealt with many different issues and was worth listening to. But recently this rap has been taken over by shit also known a "gangsta rap." Really all that it talks about is how that rapper " went tru da hood an' shot da cops" now really why cant they pronounce anything right? do they think it's cool or something to sound like a retard and say "da" instead of "the"? Even if you ignore the horrible "music" the sub culture of it is really sickening. Fans walk around looking like either criminals or like retards with too much jewelry. They can't even talk, it's like they had to try and sound unique so they came up with stupid sounding words like shizzle, and yo and stupid phrases like "in da hizzy" really they just look and sound like a bunch of fucking idiots.
Guide to making a rap song

Step 1: Either record some random beat by spitting into your hands and looking like a dumbass, or pay someone else to do it.

Step 2: Write some words that rhyme and tell a story about how you did something illegal. If you can't come up with a real rhyming word just make one up.(That's how shizzle came to be)

Step 3: Record yourself saying the words in step with the beat.

Step 4: Send it to a record company, if they like it they will ask yout o make a few more that sound exactly like it.
