I actually own one of these beauties and it rocks. The screen is amazing, super crisp and clear (although it does ghost a bit but only nit pickers would complain about it), the MP3 sound is very good, pictures look incredible as do videos off of the memory stick. The games are awesome, most of the launch games are very good (except Dynasty Warriors :( ) and more are coming in May. There are some bad things, and the biggest thing is the price. $250 is pretty steep, and since most stores make you buy a bundle it can easily reach $300 or more, and thats not even with a game. The only other things is that the UMD is a little noisy when it loads and the screen isnt protected (it comes with a case though). The games may seem expensive but since they have all the same features and levels as the console it doesnt seem as expensive. As for all the stuff you have heard on the internet its all crap. UMDs dont fly out if you twist the unit (it doenst twist anyway and why would you?), there aren't any dics read errors and the average battery life is 3-6 hours, or over 10 if your looking/listening at media on the stick(plus the battery charges quickly even if you are playing while its charging.

This thing blows the DS out of the water on almost every level. Once you have played a PSP you will never go back to the touch screen.

PSP: Handheld gaming system developed by Sony, a competitor to Nintendo's DS. The PSP is a great handhelp, but suffered a few drawbacks early on. The PSP uses UMD's (Universal Media Disk) to run it's games, which can hold about 1.8 gigabytes of data, more than enough to run a game with great graphics and a large lifespan. The PSP has a varying battery lifespan depending on the game you play, or what other funtions you use, such as watching films or music. A game that has a lot going on with great graphics will have a shorter battery life, wheras a simple puzzler will have a much longer one. The PSP uses a simple, effective memory stick for game saves, music, updates, and anything else that takes your fancy. You do NOT need to buy these to run your PSP, as it functions perfectly well with the 32 megabyte stick provided, or the 1.0 gigabyte stick provided with the Giga Pack. You DO need a larger stick to run the PSP at it's full potential, but it is not nessasary.

Pros of PSP:
-Impressive Graphics
-Movies
-Built in mp3 player
-Sexy looks
-16.7 million colour LCD display
-Huge Games
-Feels... -right-!
-A portable penis extension (ie, chick magnet)

Pros of DS:
-Dual Screen
-Good battery life
-Good loading times
-Unique

Cons of PSP:
-Shorter battery
-Bad loading times
-A little expensive for some
-Easily damaged screen

Cons of DS:
-Cheap feeling
-Smaller screens
-Pop up graphics
-Cheap feeling/small stylus
-Overpriced for what you get
-Limited number of games use Dual Screen function
-Most of the owners are 'tendo fanboys
Buddy 1: "Hey man is that the new PSP? Awesome, can I have a go?
Me: "Sure, Lemme just finish this level and save."
Buddy 2: "I wish I had waited a month or two more and bought that instead of the DS."
Me: "Don't feel bad man, once Buddy 1 here is done on it you can have a go and I'll try Mario, okay?"
Buddy 1: "Wow this is awesome!"
Buddy 2: "Yeah!"
Me: "Mario ain't bad, but why do those trees seem so flat?!"

A mobile handheld gaming system created by Sony. Stands for "PlayStation Portable". Is capable of playing movies, MP3's, viewing images, and playing games. Hackers have found a way to use a hidden browser included in the game "WipEout: Pure" to use services such as Internet browsing and instant messaging. This is possible with a wi-fi connection using the built-in IEEE 802.11b IO device. Multiplayer gaming also uses this device to allow 16 players to connect through Ad-hoc mode. In the future, Sony will release firmware updates that include a browser and other PDA type functions.

It has a large 4.3 inch 16:9 Widescreen display capable of displaying 16.77 million colors. The refresh rate however isn't so great and sudden rapid movements cause light ghosting to occur.

With the screen brightness on level 2 and the volume at 50%, you can average out at about 5 hours of game time depending on the game.

A 333 MHz processor and 32 MB of RAM allow the PSP to create graphics no other handheld gaming device can compare to.

Sleek styling, sharp graphics, and many features make this the best choice for a gamer on the go, or tech freak.
The Nintendo DS is a great device but the 23 year old design (Do a google image search for "Multi-Screen Game & Watch") and 10 year old graphics make it a 2nd choice for most gamers.

A famous portable device that is hated by nerdy nintendo fanboys and is WAY too overrated by PSP graphic whoring dumbasses

Who cares, both handhelds are good so far. Just cause the PSP plays Mp3s (Ever heard of CD PLAYERS) and videos/movies (Quite impressive) doesn't mean its incredibly good instantly.

Be GLAD sonyroolz isn't here.

Stupid waste of money portable system. It costs $250, and all the games so far suck. I mean sure, the DS didn't have many good release titles, but it had a lot of games to look forward to in the future. (Metriod Prime Hunters for example.) The PSP has nothing, and will have nothing for a very long time! Its probably going to end up like the N-Gage, only rich people who have nothing better to spend their money on will buy it and it will eventually fall apart. Sony is just asking to have its ass kicked by trying to compete with Nintendo in the portable market.
Person #1: "Hey look, I got a PSP!"
Person #2: "Well I got a DS!"
Person #1: "Hah, watch this!"
*PSP explodes*
Person #2: "What the hell did you do?!
Person #1: "I tried to play a movie..."
In conclusion, the DS kicks the PSP's ASS!
