A remote, wild peninsula on the NW coast of Scotland, between Loch Hourn (Hell) and Loch Nevis (Heaven). Comprised of private or community-owned estates. Access by boat from Mallaig or hike from Kinloch Hourn. Settlements include Airor, Inverguiserain, Doune, and the main settlement of Inverie which boasts the Remotest Pub in Mainland Britain, The Old Forge. Villagers are transplants from all over the world with maybe half of the Knoydart population being actually Scottish. Occupations are usually deer stalking or forestry. Great people, great music, great craic, great heavens what midges!
Eagle high on Ladhar Bheinn
Heaven and hell beneath
Kinloch Hourn's where hell is born
And Nevis where the angels meet
Knoydart mends a broken heart
Heals a tortured soul
Brings new life to tired minds
And brightens eyes that look upon

Sky, nothing but blue sky all around
Sky, nothing but blue sky
Feel the silence calling all around
All around

Get the knoydart mug.
Used mainly in the UK with several regional varioations possible. (1) A post-coital reddening of the face and neck. A blush suggesting a recent knee-trembler or severe embarrassment. (2) In card games: 5 entirely unrelated cards. (3) 'The Knoydart Flush' were a East Scottish folk rock act, featuring members from Siege Engine and Tayport Conversion.
"Ain't he got a right Knoydart Flush?" Could be used in a West Country accent to suggest the embarrassment or recent sexual activity.
