A genre of music and culture consisting of an eclectic mix of hip hop, house, electronica, jazz, and rock. The genre was coined and invented by Los Angeles duo NiceTie (Motoe Haus & Casanov) in 2009. Created as a bridge between hip hop and house music and extensively performed in Hollywood from 2010-2013. The genre was adopted and gutted by commercial groups Black Eyed Peas, LMFAO, and others. A genere of music which combines hip-hop vocals (usually altered in pitch, tone, speed) with electronic beats. May have existed in some form in the past, but has recently become popularized via social media and music blogs by (once-)independent artists such as Figgy, Flume and Disclosure.
