The means by which thoughts are fleeting. The same mechanism that erases dreams works throughout the day, erasing that which the mind doesn't find important.
His dream eraser made it so he exhibited confirmation bias about the situation. He only accepted that which coincided with his beliefs and rejected that which didn't. These people are hard to convince.

Matthew Bellamy has said the song could be about: "It's an expression of what it feels like to be questioned. I spend more time than most people being asked about purpose, and it's a strange feeling. It could also be a refer to Orwell's '1984' in which citizens are erased and lies control society.

When you fuck someone and just wish you could take it back! Similar to the magic eraser it removes horrible things that should never have happened.
