Atriarch is a being who controls multiple families, an Atriarch is a title of control over both a families patriarch and/or matriarch. In religion, the Atriarch would be God. In the mob, the Atriarch would be the Godfather.

From the Greek prefix ἀρετή (perfect adaptation, excellence, virtue ) + ἄρχή (sovereign, ruler, authority).
