The opposite of overwhelming. Usually uneventful and nothing special. Often associated with mediocrity.

Friend one: Hey have herd this new band called (shitty band name)?

Friend two: No. Should I?

Friend one: Nah, they're pretty underwhelming.

Underwhelming 

Failure to impress or make an impression on a person or audience. Typically, the person performing the action believes they brought amazing skills and expertise to the table.

Brad: "Heeeeeyyyy Becky. I'm surprised you got up so early with our (wink) late night...."
Becky: "meh, last night was pretty underwhelming". I'm off to the gym!
