used as a response to a negative comment/diss/action against oneself where your cred is being damaged
probably originating with the term "cat" describing someone more hiphoppity hip than yourself who may inadvertently make you look lame, therefore "catting" you.

An idiomatic expression similar to "you can't have your cake and eat it too". The phrase originated from a viral youtube video in which a girl professes her love for cats but is devastated that she can't hug every cat, despite how much she wants to.

Debbie: I bought all this cake and food for my birthday party, but because I bought so much food I don't have any money left to pay my friends to attend. I guess you just can't hug every cat.
