SMURFN

An informal, unofficial baseball statistic for closers. Stands for Save, but Made Us Really Fucking Nervous.

This happens when the closing pitcher is put in during a save situation but allows the tying run to get on base before finally earning the save.

"Did Hanrahan get the save last night?"
"Yeah, but it was a SMURFN."
