retroist

A person who decides to shell off current technology, and live in the past. They do things like replacing DV cameras with super8 cameras,tossing out overly "advanced" video games, replacing them with atari 2600's, as well as tossing out CDs, and replacing them with good 'ole records. They aslo change they're clothing wearing 80's trends, and doing things like growing mullets.

A person who rejects things of the modern world, and adapts to aspects of the past, whether they be from ten years to hundreds of years prior to the present day. Aspects of retroism include but not limited to; design, fashion, technology, everyday efforts/tasks, ways of speaking, and ideology.

As a retroist, rather than using smartphones, I use landlines.

retrostall 

The process of installing an older operating system on a computer already running a newer one. Usually done to a designated computer for the purposes of running otherwise defunct software.

I retrostalled my mom's computer so we can play King's Quest!
We'll need to retrostall back to OS9 to get your typing program to work.
Designate a computer for retrostalling because it will likely wipe your hard drive.

retrostylized 

To give the effect or appearance of being from the past, specifically the 1980's, to any work of art, music, or video game.

Retrostylization is becoming a popular style used in art, media, and advertising, as the children of that particular era are becoming adults.

This term was coined by Paul Hubans to describe his game, MADHOUSE.

Wow man, have you played MADHOUSE? It was made in 2004 but it has retrostylized graphics to give the appearance of looking just like a Nintendo game! Sweet!
