prop. n.; a small neighborhood in Pittsburgh. A slice of heaven on Earth; "it never rains in Point Breeze." Where people who actually live in Squirrel Hill claim they live, for obvious reasons.
Jack: "Where you do you live, Ryan?" Ryan: "Uh, Point Breeze." Jack: "What...isn't that Squirrel Hill?" Ryan, panicking: "Uh...no!!!"

Get the Point Breeze mug.
A neighborhood in South Philadelphia. Generally, the boundaries are from Washington Av on the North, 17-18th streets on the East, and Mifflin on the southern edge. Some consider it down to Snyder Ave on the southern end. It was historically Irish/Italian, but became majority black by the 60s, and was an extremely rough, dangerous place from the 70s on. The last decade or so has seen gentrification and new construction, which has improved the area. It still has another decade or so before one would consider Point Breeze a safe neighborhood. Point Breeze is a tough hood, but the residents are proud to be from there and everyone has grit and heart.
They just built some more condos in Point Breeze, I heard that area is “up and coming”.
Sure, rents are cheaper than the surrounding neighborhoods, but you pay the price of safety instead. Two of my roommates have been robbed walking home.
