lepidiopterist

A scientist of butterflies and moths who moonlights as an eye doctor.
I wonder if a lepidiopterist uses pictures of broad-winged insects on his visual-sharpness chart and asks you to identify which species they are, rather than just showing you one with all of those stupid/boring "E"s dat you merely need to discern which compass-direction they're pointing?

lepidoptimist

A butterfly-enthusiast who always expects to find some extra-awesome broad-winged insects on any given day.
If da "America" group-member who ventured out on da desert to seek solitude also was hoping to encounter a significant number of butterflies in said dry sandy flowerless environment, I'd say he would have to have been a lepidoptimist.
