1) Laham in Lebanese is roughly translated as "bread"
2) a common last name across the Middle East and known around the globe under a different name.
In ancient Lebanon, city-states would be named after the family/house that ruled it. House is "Beit" in Lebanese. In this case, the city would be called "Beit Laham"
Beit Laham = "House of Bread"
known to English speakers as Bethlehem
