I was buying some humbugs from a vintage confectioners shop, the assistant was on the stepladders reaching for the jar on the top shelf as a busload of nuns entered to peruse the selection of mint creams. Imagine my surprise as he knocked the cherry lips off the shelf as he lost his footing! Stepping backwards to catch the falling treats, I was goosed by a large stick of rock protruding from the counter.
