1. Imgur is a very reliable image host. Anyone, even those without an account, can upload an image. Links never die unless the original uploader deletes the image on their own. Furthermore, uploaders can change the size of their images by adding an s, m, or l in the URL - perfect for embedding possibly oversized images on forums and the like. Images can be shared through a variety of sites like Facebook and Reddit, the latter being the source of most of the gallery images' views.

2. Imgur features a gallery of some of the most viewed images on the internet that is updated daily. Viewers can upvote and downvote images and leave comments (which can also be upvoted/downvoted). The comment with the most upvotes of the day is the "top comment" and is the rough equivalent of frontpaging Reddit.. Because users can get the best images and screencaps from sites like Reddit, 4chan, and Facebook in one place, they don't have to risk going there and then clawing out their own eyeballs after viewing something they cannot unsee.

The Imgur community is a surprisingly close-knit one, with an almost family-like vibe. Imgur also has a love for any kind of "d'awwwww" picutes of animals, including cats, dogs, and lizards, as well as boasting an impressive NSFW section that is kept separate from the other images.

The userhood of Imgur is considered much more emotional and understanding than most of the internet, though sometimes people tend to go there and get "karma points" by sharing a pic and claiming they have adopted an abandoned animal or something. Usually Imgur is full of pictures of cute animals, memes, and sometimes you can actually see funny pictures too. Imgur is often used as the photobase of pictures on Reddit.

Reddit's gay little brother. Imgur is a site full of sheltered high moral fags. They worship puppies, cats, and self righteousness among users. They also pride themselves in being "the wittiest people on the internet", which is retarded since things like "+1 for ______" always manage to take the top comment. If you don't know "top comment" is the comment which receives the most upvotes, these little queers would fight to the death for this honour.

A little piece of advice if you're going to imgur, don't. If you comment, you better be prepared to be downvoted to hell if your views aren't exactly the same as theirs. Imgur is also full of unoriginal jokes, and overused memes that should've died a long time.

imgur.com (pronounced imager) is a popular photo sharing website closely tied to reddit. It is very convenient to upload and share, in contrast to other services like tinypic and imageshack (which are still easy, just not as convenient). Employs a very similar system to reddit with upvotes and downvotes, and jokingly it has been said that it's changing into "animal planet" with various photos of cute animals like cats. Most reddit picture submissions are uploaded using either imgur or quickmeme. The difference in the two is that one is a general purpose image sharing website, and the other is to quickly overlay text on meme photos. Imgur allows comments as well, but the most upvoted are "as a x" and the singing of lyrics to a corresponding picture.
