A place where kids and teenagers shop to feel ohhh "so rebellious" when in fact they are feeding money to the same system that they so called "oppose". The funny thing is that mainly white suburban kids shop there who think they are any different or better than the rest of the population. Hot Topic is a gimick per say, true DIY ethics are what punk was based on. But anyways I'm not gonna say anyone shopping there is a poser or not a poser because I don't believe in labels. Labels are just retarded and stereotypical so I avoid those terms. Just to state my position, Hot Topic is a corporate store in corporate America just to make some $$$.

A store with a "punky" and even a small amount of "gothy" feel to it. They actually do have some good stuff, but it is ruined by the wanna be feel the whole store gives off. Even the people working there scream wanna be.
Ironicly, the kids that say "You laugh at me because I'm different, but I laugh at you because you all the same" buy their clothes here, but fail to relaize everything they are buying is mass produced. Just because it is AE or aeropostle doesn't make it different.

All you people that are calling Hot Topic a "poser" store are FUCKED! There is no way a store can b a "poser" because if that store is "poser" than I guess all stores are "poser." So that means we are all "posers". Hot Topic is just a store where people go 2 spend cash, buy cds, and clothes.

OK, there's a lot of definitions that say that hot topic is "poser". Shopping at Hot Topic doesn't make you a poser. You just like their clothes. But if you shop there and think you're original, then you are a poser. They sell merch from some bands like Ramones, the Clash and Metallica, and it's pretty much the only store in the mall that sells band merch. But they are kind of expencive.

It's not about being goth. It's not about being emo, scene, etc. It's about music. They also help support bands all over america and help give publicity to smaller bands. You can get tickets to shows on their website.
It is a place where you can buy generally good quality clothes that fit many different people. The clothes generally are no more or less expensive than any other store.
Hot Topic has a lot of really cool stuff, like Invader Zim stuff, Nightmare Before Christmas stuff, and music stuff.
You can buy albums, tee-shirts, sweatshirts, posters, pants, accessories, toys, movies, shoes, belts, underwear, buttons, jewelry, etc.
Some people don't like this store because they think it is "creepy" or "goth" or "poser" or many other names that dont really mean anything, because it is just a store, like all others.
