This is when someone in business says that they could do something so much better than the person or company you used before.

Everyone will be familiar with going to a new hairdresser for the first time and they will invariably ask' who used to do your hair?' and then proceed to say how badly they did it and why you are right to have came to them (even though they are likely to make a bigger dog's dinner of it)

The same also applies for any service you used, 'who did your garden last?', ' who do you use to clean your windows? ', 'who did your last marketing campaign?' - criticism from a new provider is hairdresser's syndrome.
Householder to friend "The new gardener couldn't believe how bad my previous gardener was"
Friend " There's a surprise, that's just hairdresser's syndrome! Your new guy has done an even worse job as far as I can see"
