"Evil Black Rifle." Sarcastic term used in reference to the anti-gun community's perception of semiautomatic rifles that often share common cosmetic features with military rifles. Most typically associated with the AR-15, other examples would include the M1A, FAL, and various clones of AK models. Although a small minority of areas in the U.S. have local regulations governing semiautomatic rifles or magazine capacity, these rifles are generally totally legal and serve a variety of sporting, target and plinking purposes. Anti-gun activists typically refer to EBRs as "machine guns" or "automatic weapons," further displaying their ignorance on the topic they allege to be experts on.
