The original name of the City Bangalore. Bangalore is the anglicized version of the Kannada name for the city.

The British with their stiff upper lips could not pronounce the name properly, so they called in Bangalore instead of Bengaluru. Indians writing in English copied the British and Bangalore became the popular name for this city. Now, it has been officially changed to its original form in Kannada: Bengaluru.

Bengaluru 

(aka Bangalore) Home to the best IT professionals, brews, booze, and the most friendliest people you'll probably ever meet. You have to know at least three languages to survive here (yeah, that's the level of diversity we're talking about!). Also home to the IPL team with arguably the biggest fanbase. Also, Rahul Dravid is a huge goonda here in Indiranagar if you get it, you get it ;)
