After further research into the issue, I feel that the widespread protests and violence are yet another great example of The Floyd Effect.

The Hunger Games Effect

An effect often seen in books of the dystopian genre where the author inserts a slew of unfortunate, jarring events that leave the reader astonished and speechless, especially if a beloved character dies suddenly with little time to grieve.
In the book Mockingjay, from The Hunger Games Trilogy, the death of the character Finnick Odair shows The Hunger Games Effect in full force, where he dies so suddenly, it’s almost comical.

The Meghan Effect

By advertising, promoting, and/or wearing low inventory merchandise, an illusion is manufactured to deceive investors & customers into supporting a failing celebrity brand. This illusion is meant to deceive consumers into believing that "sold out" equates to popular & profitable.
Meghan Markle borrowed & modeled low inventory fashions and out of season designer clothing. Her "friends" purchased the remaining stock therefore causing the scarce inventory to quickly "sell out" which created The Meghan Effect.
