Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder. It's characterized by impaired social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication, and restricted and repetitive behaviour.

If you use it as an insult, I will hunt you down and murder you (no, not literally).
Aaron scoffed. "Look at her, she clearly has autism." Hannah slapped him in the face.

"Autism isn't an insult." Quinn protested.

Autism is a spectrum disorder that isn't as horrible as most say it is. Autistic people are different in many ways with a wide span of experiences. Sometimes, it's diagnosed at a young age, while some people are diagnosed later in life. It is a very complicated disorder that can result in, although quite different, amazing people.
I have autism and specifically high-functioning.

Autism is just a difference in the brain and it is a disorder. Some people with autism are able to function in society and some need that extra support. Telling puns to people with autism is just frustrating and also being too vague. Having autism is not a bad thing and honestly, it's like a blessing because having autism means that we are more compassionate, thoughtful, caring, respectful, empathic. We are allowed to see the world differently and that is okay.
I am grateful that I have a different ability. Having Autism rocks!

Autism is a neurotype. A neurotype is a type of brain, and the main change that it does is how the brain interprets and responds to social cues. The easiest way of describing an autistic person is just that their brain works slightly different. That’s all.

Also being ableist is stupid so please just try to think about what you say before you say it.

Autism is a spectrum. Not a functioning line. Not every autistic person is the same.

There are also a lot of common co-morbidities so lots of autistic people with have some other mental illness or disorder, like ADHD, anxiety or depression.

Written by an actual autistic person :)
some ableist bitch: “ew why are you autistic?”
an autistic person: “yeah like i can control what my neurotype is, it’s just autism, piss off.”
