By reading all of the definitions of Goth below, I have concluded that, in addition to the traditional meanings of the word Gothic, the "goths" of today are people fixated on thinking they are somehow unique, admirable and special while ripping off a style popularized ~20 years ago. Kind of hard to be unique with seven BILLION people on the planet, but I bet yo mama thinks your black clothes, eye-liner and pierced brow r cute!
Didn't that Goth look die 20 years ago?

One who feels Halloween is everyday, loves any kind of music with dark lyrics and a beat that is appealing to their unique self, most likely express themselves artistically, often are nocturnal, decorate with darker things such as: dragons, dark fairies, skulls, horror movie figurines, music and movie posters, dark angels, and so on. They excel in things like writing, painting, drawing, theater, clothes making, ect. Clothing may vary, but black and silver seem to be what they commonly wear. They're open minded and not afraid of being themselves.
Famous goths include,Vampira, Bella Legosi, Elvira, Edgar Allan Poe, Stephen King, The Munsters, The Addams Family, Brandon Lee as The Crow, Ozzy, Jack Skelinton, The Bride of Frankenstien, and so on.

An entire sub-culture of weeaboo teenagers dedicated to the destruction of the emos, wether they call themselves emo, or others say they are (such as myself). Typically funny, backlash can still be incured if their favorite band or RPG is put down even once. Fun to be with, but possibly abbrasive.
theres this goth chick i like, but she seems to have a blood feud against me. that and she thinks my taste in games sucks

A male hands free masturbation technique when a man or boy keeps relaxing the muscles around his penis. The more he relaxes a strong surge of arousal will cause him to feel orgasmic euphoria and eventually ejaculate. It’s easier to do it if you don’t masturbate for a while.
Gothing is better than masturbating because it gives you a stronger sexual sensation and euphoria!

I won’t reiterate what others have said about true Goths. However, I will say this. There is one thing I do disagree with that so far I have read in every entry. It is the music. Why do Goths have to listen to certain genres? I thought true Goths are open minded. So why so close minded for the matter of music?

Granted, Marilyn Manson and Simple Plan are not goth, nor punk. That does not mean they can’t be listened to by a goth.
Linkin Park, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, Marilyn Manson, etc. are not gothic music, but they are musicians.

The 69 Eyes is Gothic Rock, but you can still dislike them and be a goth. I like them, but it doesn't mean someone else does. It just like any type of music, you have to enjoy it to listen to them. Since Goths think for themselves, listening to other genres other than goth is okay.

Suggestive of a dark, morbid outlook on life, but not without a sense of humor. Often associated with vampires, cemeteries, and other trappings of death and isolation. An outgrowth of the post-punk New Romantic movement that spawned such musical groups as Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees and the Cure. The controversy rages about what "is" goth and what it isn't, as various members of the subculture jockey for credibility. Basically, if you have to ask someone if you're a goth, you probably aren't, and no one person is the ultimate judge of who and what is or is not goth. Except maybe Robert Smith.
Do we really need another definition of "goth"? Probably not, but here it is anyway.

A "Goth" is, loosely speaking, one who decides to separate from the mainstream culture for varying reasons (such as dissatisfaction with modern society, a will to be different, or just a liking to the styles whether it be music or visual or social).

Goths are not defined as someone who slashes their own wrists or sets fires to schools, that is what is called a masochist, vandal or sadist. A Goth, in modern society, is merely a lifestyle.

Although their image and demeanor consistently appears cold and reclusive, this is but a shell and Goths are more commonly found to be nicer than the 'average' stranger, due to their tendency to have intellectual/educated backgrounds, and artistic divulgences including the visual arts and musical talents.

A 'pure' Goth epitomizes beauty not in the way that you would say "wowzers she is A BEAUTY", but in the way that the ideal Goth strives for clear skin and pure complexion; the dark hair and garb serves to enhance the fair complexion of pure skin.

People carrying "Gothic" qualities does not relate whatsoever to their personality and/or attitudes towards other people, rather, their attitudes towards the many forms of art, community, and individuality.

---

As you can probably tell by now, I myself am a Goth. And a Christian (strange combination you say? *shrugs*). I don't cut myself, I don't swear, I don't think offensively of other people of all shapes and sizes (and colours et cetera) but I strive to be Me in a world where everyone and everything is just a copy of a copy of a copy..

There is freedom of speech, there is freedom of personality, and a natural Goth embraces the freedom of image.
Striving to be Me in a world so full of Clones..
