The most used key combination to undo the previous action the user has made.

The use of a key combination to easilly perform a command was first introduced by Macintosh, using the Q, Z, X, C and V buttons, in combination with the Command key, for the actions quit, undo, cut, copy and paste (in that order).

It was passed down to other Operating Systems, but with other operating systems using other keyboards the Ctrl (Control) key was used, since they didn't have the same control key as a Macintish keyboard does.

Also see "Inside Macintosh. Volume 1" Chapter I page 53, for the first ever mention and explanation of this command.
You see a person working on an image in Photoshop "Oh, crap, I made a mistake! Undo!" The person presses Ctrl+Z to unto his mistake
(NOTE: In Photoshop Ctrl+Z undoes all recent actions made with the tool selected, Ctrl+Alt+Z however undoes the last action only, yet can be pressed repeatedly to undo several previous actions)

CTRL+C CTRL+V job

A soul-destroying, unskilled, useless and monotonous job whose main task is to press continuously CTRL+C and CTRL+V in order to copy and paste text from one document to another without any clear purpose and without knowing the big picture behind it
In the last year I had a not very interesting CTRL+C CTRL+V job experience in business

ctrl+shift+delete

ctrl+shift+delete is a keyboard shortcut to delete history. Many find it quicker than going through settings; when your friend asks to borrow your computer, you just hit ctrl+shift+delete, click, and they'll never know what porn you were watching.
My girlfriend needed to check her email, so I hit ctrl+shift+delete when she wasn't looking.
