An academic vampire is someone who forces others, via their position of
authority, to produce work that they will then: 1. use with credit only to themselves and not to those who actually produced the work or 2. use to make themselves look more
productive or
prestigious to their chair, deans, other colleagues, etc.
That advisor is an academic vampire; she
published the work her grad student and never gave
the student credit. OR That supervisor had her graduate TA do all of her IRB and half of the data collection and never gave that TA any credit in the
publication.
