The fast and The furious is filled with modified cars, hot girls and 1/4 mile drag races that last for 2 minutes.
The fast and The furious influenced the world in many ways:

-Made every JDM tuner a ricer.
-Made every teen a future ricer.
-After that every supra is faster than a ferrari.
-VW Jettas are beaten by S2000s
-Having a big gaping WANG and a Bonnet scoop makes your car faster in drag races.
-Dodge chargers can do wheelies but can't dosge trucks.

Dawg i've just seen The fast and The furious, I wanna put some kool 20' rimZ , a bonnet scoop and a big WANG on my FWD dodge neon to make it wheelie like DAT BAD-ASS charger XDDDDD

The Fast and the Furious

A movie about an undercover cop who tries to become a street racer to stop high speed truck hijackings. They race, somebody dies, it has a dramatic ending. I liked it.

but the reception...is so/so.

here's my thoughts.
its a good movie. the plot is not as deep as i wouldve liked, but its a fun movie to watch while chilling at home on a rainy day. it did fuel the import boom in the US and also street racing in Cali. but its not a car advertisement, its a MOVIE!! LOL
you cant blame a movie for its interpretation by the viewers!
its not supposed to be funny, or realistic, or whatever, its just an action/fun movie.

dude i just saw The Fast and the Furious yesterday, it wasnt a great plot but overall a good movie, and barring the misinterpretation of the movie that says "Go get an import car and lets go cook some rice" the cars actually looked cool

Jeff can run a mile in 4 1/2 minutes. Kevin always gets really mad and beats the shit out of people. Together, I'd probably consider them to be the fast and the furious.

Fast and the Furious

The movie that re defined chemistry. Apparently it is now possible to blow up an inert gas (NOS) by using a cigarette lighter. Nitrous (aka. NOS) is actually Nitrous Oxide or N2O. I do not see any hydrocarbons to burn there.(Quick chemistry lesson: When nitrous oxide is heated up, such as in an engine, it breaks apart to become separate nitrogen and oxygen molecules. This provides more oxygen to the engine which in turn gives you more performance) The movie that also gave a bad name to the R34 Skyline, and the Supra, and BMW, and many other respectable cars. As for exhaust manifold buildup... the only way I can see this happening is if your turbo suddenly decided it liked being a brick wall instead.

Even though Hollywood says it's possible, you still cannot burn an inert gas. Fast and the Furious made my inner car guy cry.
