Someone who accompanies you or your group. A member of your posse. There can be a negative connotation, as in someone unwanted, but that is often not the case.

Person 1 "I'm going to get some pizza, anyone want to come?"
Person 2 "I'll be a tag-along"

(noun) A screw up or mistake. The origin of this phrase was as a metaphor for the state of the country during the primaries of the 2008 presidential election.

We shouldnt ask who put the bus in the ditch. Just fix the problem.
