Seventeen ( 세븐틴, SEVENTEEN or SVT) is a South Korean boy group under Pledis Entertainment.
There are thirteen members in the group who are separated into three different sub-Units: 'Hip-Hop Unit' (Mingyu, S.Coups, Wonwoo, Vernon), 'Vocal Unit' (Woozi, Jeonghan, DK, Seungkwan, Joshua), and 'Performance Unit' (Minghao, Hoshi, Jun, Dino).
They debuted on May 26 in 2015. They were the first male K-pop group to debut with a one-hour live Showcase.

Pledis (Seventeen's Agency) made a vote, where fans could send suggestions and vote for their favourite one.
The final winner was Carat because it means it brightens the diamond (Diamond = Seventeen). The bigger the gem is the precious the value. Seventeen will be more worth it the more time passes.
Seventeen said at a concert:
"We have an announcement. You guys made us shine so bright. So you guys are now going to be our Carat."
