The transition of a state (country) from a Liberal Democracy to an Illiberal Democracy, or a more authoritarian system that retains some semblance of democracy with less political tolerance and individual rights. Not to be confused with Fascism, where Liberal Democracy is replaced with an ethnic/racial supremacist and suicidally genocidal regime.
