The TV show started in 2007 was based on the series of books by Cecily Von Ziegesar. Every millennial hates to love it and the show gen z's are just finding out about. It was a cultural reset yet it was ridiculously cringe worthy but also kind of amazing. It's also very problematic at the same time like wtf.

The plot was about the "scandalous" lives of rich socialites and teens in Manhattan with the exception the few middle class main characters that were used to compare the differences between them and the rich. The show had sexual themes showcased the teens drinking alcohol making people consider it too mature for teens at the time. The show also briefly touched on eating disorders and rape. The show has been nicknamed gg by fans. There was 6 seasons and it has a soap opera like format.
