EPIRB

Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon

The EPRIB (or "e-piryb") is pretty much an uber-ELT that transmits a radio signal on a frequency somewhere around 406 MHz. This signal contains information regarding the location of the signal (usally a downed aircraft or ship in distress). Satellites (known as SARSAT pick up this radio signal (as well as ELT signals) and relay this information to centers like the AFRCC. Search and Rescue is then dispatched to search and rescue agencies such as The Civil Air Patrol and Coast Guard.

Because the captian of the sinking fishing boat had bought an EPIRB for his boat, the Coast Guard was able to find and rescue him quickly.

Morse Code

A communications system consisting of letters coded into dots and dashes, and used in radiotelegraph systems. (usally HF systems), and its fun to jam freeband stations with this stuff.

I jammed a pirate radio station with "HELLO HELLO I HATE YOU" in morse code over and over again.

One of the most annoying 'features of Windows XP. However, it does produce the orgasmic feeling of telling Microsoft that there has been yet another problem with thier "operating" system

A government regulation that pretty much is an oxymoron, because it contradicts itself.

The term "Catch-22" first came out in the book by the same name.

A high-quality, relatively low-risk investment; the term usually refers to stocks of large, well-established companies that have performed well over a long period.

I just put $500 on some good GE blue chip stock.

Future Hobos of America

An organization formed at Fairfax High School. The Future Hobos of America (FHA) really doesn't do anything, except form more FHA groups at other schools and sit around doing nothing.
