A "pasticcio" is a "mess".
It comes from a culinary recipe that mixes up various ingredients to obtain something messy but delicious. In this case, though, "pasticcio" is used to indicate something very messy and complicated, be it a problem to solve or a very untidy room.

There also are adjectives such as PASTICCIONA (fem. sing) or PASTICCIONE (masc. sing) that indicate someone that made something messy, or stupid. PASTICCIONI is the plural.

A PASTICCIACCIO (a bad mess) is usually used to talk about politics and political intrigues.

When something or someone is a literal train wreck we say "è un casino".

"INCASINATO" is an adjective referred to people or stuff: someone is INCASINATO when they're in trouble, or they're trouble. A place is INCASINATO when it'smessy.
