Cockroach

Australian term for a person born in New South Wales. Named for the insect pest and just as popular as the insect pest too amongst other Australians, especially Queenslanders.

The Cockroaches are going to be crushed by the power of the Queensland Maroons.

A put-down to be used on people who are clearly too young for the event or thing being talked or boasted about.

Space Invader

A guy who has a preference for fucking people best described as "space cadets" ie incredibly stupid.

"That Barry, he is such a space invader. He prefers stupid partners."

"Probably because most folks are too smart to let him fuck them."

Turret-head

Australian army slang for a member of the Armoured Corps.

"I see the turret-heads have gotten their toy bogged down once again."
"Typical."

The Roaring Days

Term used in Australia for the Gold Rush era, when Colonial Australia was wilder than the American Wild West.
Also when the Bushrangers such as Bold Ben Hall and Ned Kelly roamed the country.

"Oh, yes. The Roaring Days were indeed glorious and wild. The country was so much younger then."

Combat Wombat

A nickname given to Australian soldiers, in particular the infantry.

This is because, like a wombat, it "eats roots, shoots and leaves."
