desolate

Adj. To be bare, scorched, radioactive, burnt, or uninhabitable. Usually a noman's land or dangerous plain object.

"The desolate barrens went on for miles."

BSOD

BSOD is short for "Blue Screen of Death", and is only applicable to Microsoft software users. It's an omen of future computer crashing and happens when you least expect it. Even WinXP has one.

*Typing* *Looks up* "Aww crap man, I got BSODed. Only thing now is to restart since I lost all my saved data."

Omen

A symbol that forshadows a (usually bad) future event.

He saw an omen of his grave when he woke up. Later in the afternoon he was hit by a car and died.
