The Kingdom was founded in 1882 and still exists. it was founded by chiefs of Kalabari town (Elem Kalabari) it was founded by Chief Young Briggs, Chief Ekine Manuel, Chief Otaji, Chief Owukori Manuel, Chief Jack, Chief Young-Jack, Chief Boy Whyte, Chief Black Duke, along with their people they created the first town of the Kingdom which was called Abonnema.
