workslop

AI-generated content in the workplace that appears professional, polished and impressive but lacks meaningful substance. Workslop gives the illusion of productivity through slick slides, lengthy reports, overly compressed summaries, or code presented without context. Instead of saving time, it shifts the real thinking and cleanup onto colleagues.

The term was coined by BetterUp Labs and Stanford Social Media Lab, who studied why large investments in generative AI often lead to minimal productivity gains in the workplace.
"The presentation looked great, but it was mostly workslop — we still had to redo the analysis ourselves."
