They try to make themselves have an eating disorder, by starving and making themselves throw up, and ultimately failing. These wannarexics normally only last a few weeks at most with their behaviors.
It is also used by many anorexics, bulimics and people with ednos because they feel they are not pleasing Ana, Mia and Essie. They feel too fat to have an eating disorder.
A lot of wannarexic boys and girls showed up on myproana after the movie Starving In Suburbia was released onto youtube. There were forums posted everyday that were titled, "New ana! Comment your tips!" and all their users were dealing with butterfly, which is part of the main character's username to her proana site. They were all very young, but JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS YOUNG does not mean THEY DO NOT HAVE AN EATING DISORDER.

3. Posting "thinspiration" pictures of skinny models and celebrities, and idolizing Mary-Kate Olsen, who reportedly suffers from anorexia.
4. The overall, unshaking belief that anorexia is a cool diet that will make you thin, popular and loved by all, and consequently a complete lack of comprehension as to the truth - that anorexia is a complex, crippling mental disease that can cause appalling long-term health complications, including brittle bones, chronic halitosis, lanugo (fur-like hair that covers the body to help keep it warm when there is not enough body fat to do the job), stomach ulcers, hair loss and loss of eyesight. And that's to say nothing of the psychological effects.

A term given to the "condition" girls who WANT to have anorexia really have. They'll promote their "eating disorder" and tell everyone how little they've eaten and talk about how fat they think they are, whereas someone who actually has anorexia nervosa wouldn't promote this fact at all. What these wannarexic girls don't realize is that you can't force yourself to be anorexic, and if they truly knew how dark and lonely having anorexia is, they wouldn't wish it upon their worst enemies. They're really only doing it for attention, which is an issue in itself.

In fact, they do not have an eating disorder at all. Most wannarexic people feel that anorexia is a "quick fix" to lose weight and that it is glamorous.
I was reading this girl's xanga and she TOTALLY has wannarexia. She recorded a food log and she admitted to eating 3 large mushroom pizzas, a super sized order of french fries, 12 hamburgers, 14 cheesesteaks, 7 pounds of animal fat, and 35 chocolate bars. And that was just her breakfast!

They will refer to their new diet as 'ana', to try and appear as though they fit into the cultural breed of fakes. They spend money on starbucks like it was calorie-free. Usually, they'll 'recover' or just forget, as soon as they've lost the 5 or 10 pounds before prom.
Warning signs: Extremely low comprehension level, joining pro-ana communities, showing sudden interest in Mary-Kate Olsen, and using sayings like 'stay strong', or 'WWMKD?' (what would mary kate do). They'll have a fear of getting fat (although they are blind to their already prominent handles and rolls.) They'll take pictures contorted at strange angles, sucking in their stomache to try and prove that they are really anorexic, and post them on their pro-ana boards.
Treatment: No treatment is possible to convince people suffering from wannarexia that they are not anorexic, unless the treatment includes brain replacement.
