topic art 

Art that is based on a particular theme or item of current interest to society. The theme or topical item is usually trendy or transient. Typically, topic art is portrayed as being creative, but really, it is not at all original. Considered a juvenile art form. While it can describe art that is good, topic art is more generally a derogatory term.

Artist: "I use mixed media including commonly available household items like recycled string and kiwi juice cartons. I believe in global warming and my art express this."
Mark: "You mean you tie your mom's garbage together then bring it back into the world as art. I'm an artist too: you're a shithead so let's recycle your throat into a turd-sleeve."
Rachel: "I hate topic art."
