Something or someone that is excessively popular.

Popularity that excedes a logical amount or to the point where it or they become too prominent for many people's taste.

It is also used to refer to things that are over used or fashionable words or phrases that are 'beaten to death' by the press and media.

It can also mean something that it too popular to be sustained or it has exceeded it's limit of participants.
"X is overpopular. I can imagine why so many people like it"

"This place is overpopular, let's go elsewhere."

The college course was overpopular and many people had to be refused.

What our planet is.

At the rate things are going at, within fifty years, the earth is going to be so crowded that we won't even be able to breeth.
With well over 6 billion people, the earth is overpopulated, and the situation aint getting any better.
