The act of announcing the death of someone (usually a celebrity) , and mourning that person before realizing that the person has been dead for many years! The word is a combination of "mortem" and "amnesia."
I didnt think Dave suffered from mortemnesia, but when he told me yesterday how sad he was about the death of Jean Stapleton, I knew he had been infected.
