In a group meeting, the attendee with whom the meeting leader establishes and maintains eye contact. The speaker presents all information directly to that attendee. Causes include:

- attendee is the only person in the room offering eye contact to presenter
- performance anxiety
- a desire for a personal connection with an otherwise disinterested room.

The meeting muse at first will experience feelings of grandeur, as if he/she is the most important person in the room. This quickly subsides to a feeling of awkward imprisonment.
Travis: "GAWD I hate going to Slate's meetings."

Troy: "Dude - were you the meeting muse again?"

Travis: "Yes, dammit. I couldn't check email, do Facebook, even look down at my phone. I'm so behind now."
