humbuggish

A noun to describe someone who is contrary and making the attempt to start a fight. This may have originated in New Orleans, but I'm not sure.

There was a girl at school today that was very humbuggish. She continued to insult and pick a fight with Mary.

Humbugging

The artful dodge of putting down an activity someone finds an interest in. There's an implication that there's something wrong with the person who likes the activity, but because it's not spelled outright, there's plausible deniability.

Person A: I don't get why people like sportsball. It's so boring.
Person B: You're humbugging me because I like baseball?
Person A: I didn't say you're bad for liking sportsball...
Person B: No, but there's a strong implication there.

A southern way of saying somebody is always Bowing up , all on somebody case, tryna go for bad, or always wanting to fight. I'm sure black folks made it up lol

Derived from the phrase, "Bah, humbug!" originally spoken by the miser Ebenezer Scrooge in the novella A Christmas Carol (1843) by English author Charles Dickens (1812–1870).

The act of selfishly touching one's self sexually in a public restroom, before hanging yourself there due to a hatred of all Christmas music.

I caught Mason humbugging in the bathroom, but didn't try to stop him since he was bitching about my Christmas music in November... He's gone now.
